10 pack of Panasonic slim 470uF 25V aluminum electrolytic capacitors. This particular capacitor is only 8mm wide and is suitable for applications where many capacitors are placed close together and where height is less of a consideration, such as computer mother boards.

Most modern equipment such as televisions and satellite receivers use switching power supplies rather than a conventional mains transformer arrangement. Typically the power supply switching frequency can be around 40kHz. The resulting ripple produced on the secondary supplies gives smoothing capacitors rather a hard life. The impedance of a capacitor at a specific frequency will cause a current flow dependent on the ESR, (equivalent series resistance) of the capacitor. This is the effective resistance of the capacitor and like any resistor heat will be produced as current flows through it. The lower the ESR the less heat that will be generated in the capacitor. It is the heat generated in the capacitor that after time will lead to its demise.
 
Fitting Panasonic capacitors will greatly improve reliability of the power supply in a modern television for example.

When replacing capacitors in power supplies for example please remember that values and voltages are not that critical. For example the voltage rating of a capacitor is the maximum voltage allowed. It is therefore acceptable to fit a 25V capacitor in place of a 16V type. It is not acceptable to fit a 16V capacitor where the original was a 25V rated type. Since electrolytic capacitors have a tolerance of typically 20% the value also is not that critical. For example an 820uF type can be replaced with a 1000uF and 330uF can be replaced with a 470uF. The only important consideration is the physical size.
