VXY2126
My DMR-BWT700 had got to the stage of not reading any disk but all other functions were working normally. I felt it would be worth trying to fit a new drive. Following the earlier review I took the cover off to satisfy myself that I'd be able to do it myself before ordering the replacement. It was. Ordered the new one, it arrived the following day and took 10 minutes to fit. It works perfectly. Very pleased!

Replaced VXY2126 Drive in DMR-BWT700 after failure to record to Blu-ray discs
Changing the drive is very straightforward. Once the top of the recorder has been removed, you just have to disconnect two cables and removed four screws before lifting out the old drive. Fitting the new drive is no problem. The problem with the Blu-ray recorder was consistent with a failing laser diode, but fitting the new drive did not fix the issue. I now suspect a faulty power supply which only affects recording but not playing of discs as the latter will require less power.
