Description

This universal LNB is the type used by Sky in their installations. It is designed specifically for the Sky dishes as fitted by Sky. You can also use this LNB for any other satellite services that require a universal LNB, not just Sky eg Hotbird or Astra 1. The particular type supplied may vary and will be manufactured by Zinwell. Thomson, MTI or WNC. All these manufacturers specialise in the manufacture of RF components and all are market leaders in this field. No cheap rubbish!!

Regardless of the brand of LNB fitted on your dish originally you can replace it with this one. This LNB is suitable for fitting to Sky supplied dishes with a rectangular LNB support arm 30mm x 20mm and for the new type MK4 or ERA dish. There are still a few old sky dishes more than 8 - 10 years old still in service. These dishes can use a smaller arm with a cross section of 25mm x 12mm. These dishes are made by Grundig and Cambridge and unfortunately modern LNB's will not fit. You need to consider replacement of the dish. Please get in touch if you have a question.

A quad LNB is suitable as a replacement for a single or a dual LNB if you wish to add extra satellite receivers to your installation. A typical example would be the installation of a Sky Plus or HD box which requires two of the outputs. This LNB will supply 2 Sky Plus boxes or 4 single input receivers such as Free to Air receivers or Freesat receivers. This LNB is also perfect for use with Freesat HD satellite receivers. It is quite permissible to only use the outputs you require and leave spares for future expansion.

Please note this LNB will require a legacy adaptor supplied separately which is required for all dishes with a 30mm x 20mm rectangular section LNB support arm. The adaptor fitted on to the LNB will fit directly on to the newer Mark 4 dish which has a rectangular shaped LNB support arm with 3 sides ( U section).

Lets have a look at exactly what you get:

  • LNB assembly
  • LNB locking pin
  • Suitable for both SD (standard defintion) and HD (high definition) services
  • Suitable for all Sky dishes with the 30mm x 20mm section LNB support arm (legacy adaptor required and sold seperately)
  • Suitable for all Sky dishes with a MK4 or ERA type LNB support arm ( U section)
  • Not suitable for older Grundig or Cambridge dishes with a 25mm x 12mm LNB support arm. This dish dates back 8-12 years

Replacement of this LNB is very simple. No special tools or knowledge are required. You need to undo the F connector from the old LNB, this twists off like a screw. You may need to remove the old rubber boot or cut off any rubber sealing tape that has been fitted on the connector. The next stage is to remove the plastic pin from the boom arm and the LNB will simply slide out. The new LNB will slide in in place of the old one or clip over the arm if using the ERA adaptor. Once fitted the LNB is held in place by fitting the new plastic pin through the hole in the boom arm. The next stage is to make the connections to the four ports of the LNB. After fitting the cables pull down the cable shroud. The cable shroud is built into the body of the LNB and is pulled down around the connectors. Optionally you can also fit rubber boots on the cables as well. Please see the connectors section in our shop for these items.

After my satellite system stopped working with "no signal" I presumed it was the LNB and ordered a replacement from By My Stuff. it arrived in 2 days and took me 15 mins to fit with no change to the alignment needed. Brilliant, job done
