When replacing capacitors in power supplies for example please remember that values and voltages are not that critical. For example the voltage rating of a capacitor is the maximum voltage allowed. It is therefore acceptable to fit a 25V capacitor in place of a 16V type. It is not acceptable to fit a 16V capacitor where the original was a 25V rated type. Since electrolytic capacitors have a tolerance of typically 20% the value also is not that critical. For example an 820uF type can be replaced with a 1000uF and 330uF can be replaced with a 470uF. The only important consIderation is the physical size.
