RZ37LZ55 Power Supply PCB Board, LCD Television, 6709900002A, ML015B

This power supply pcb is the modified replacement type for the LG RZ37LZ55 LCD television. Failure of this power supply is common with the resulting symptom that the set is completely dead. The power supply often fails at switch on and can be accompanied by an all mighty bang. The bang is due to the switching device IC904 failing. This device is an STR-T2268 and you may find that part of it has blown off. Have a look at the photographs. All the photographs are of the brand new power supply you will receive.

LG have in the past issued a repair kit for this board but now it is available as a complete assembly as well as the repair kit if you are skilled enough to fit it. The part number of this power supply is 6709900002A and it is fitted to sets using the LG ML051B chassis. The replacement power supply does not fail and replacement of this PCB provides a permanent cure to the problem of a dead set or a set stuck in standby.

The photographs attached shows the new power supply PCB which comes with the wiring looms attached.Replacement of the power supply is relatively straight forward. The procedure is to put the set face down on a table preferably with a table cloth below and with the table stand over the edge of the table. Then remove the table stand and the the rear cover. There are a lot of screws so put them in a pot so that none of them can roll underneath the television and cause a nasty scratch when you move it. You then need to remove the inner steel screening plate, again a lot of screws with some round the area of the video input connections. This will reveal the power supply to the left of the main PCB. Remove the screws from the power supply and the wiring loom from the main PCB. The new power supply comes complete with the wiring loom and is simply screwed in place and the connectors refitted. No setup or adjustments are required after replacement of the power supply. Test the set at this point and ensure everything is ok. It is quite ok to operate the set with the steel screening plate removed. You can also refit the table stand and test the set for ten minutes or so. Once satisfied everything is in order you should remove the power, refit the screening plate and finish off the set reassembly.

This board is only to be fitted by those competent in repairing electrical equipment.
